Pocky Creators Contest Results

The Pocky Creators contest was held from Monday, October 1st to Sunday, November 11th. The winners from the illustration and literary categories have been decided.
November 11th (11th month, 11th day) has been deemed as Pocky Day by fans due to the resemblance of “1” looking like a Pocky stick. Pocky Creators was a project to collect work relating to this theme of “Pocky Day.”

The illustration category seeked to collect Pocky illustrations or illustrations of objects with a Pocky motif as well as personifications of Pocky or characters that love Pocky. We have amassed about an amazing 4,000 unique illustrations of all varieties from this contest!
We also collected short stories to help us introduce Pocky through our literary category. Short stories were limited to 400 characters, but we still collected about nearly 3,000 original Pocky stories!
It was difficult for us to judge all of these amazing entries, but we have finally decided on the winners.
So without further ado, here are the winning entries.

ポッキー食べる？
『ポッキー食べる？』 by 湯味
【Reason for winning】
This illustration looks like it carries memories of a mysterious world which exists with the present. Giving Pocky to cheer up an important someone seems to be a timeless cure and this image illustrates it perfectly. It looks like the other person might be appeased with a box of Pocky. A wonderful piece of work.

魔法少女ポッキー

【Reason for winning】
This personification of Pocky was drawn very well! Such a cute girl! Bright and cheerful, this girl will magically cheer you up. Even looking at her cheers me up.

【Reason for winning】
This piece stood out among the others with its unique texture. It features an intimate Pocky party, yet is bustling with activity. Seems like this illustration wants to create, for viewers, a similar memory about Pocky.

Title：『わけあうココロ』 by 蒼夜ルナ

地元を離れて、もうすぐ一年になる。
「あんたの夢、叶えておいで」
　旅立つ時に太陽のような明るい笑みで私を送り出した母さん。私はその言葉を思い出す。けれど、現実はそううまくいかなくて。いつしか電話をかけることも少なくなっていた。
　そんなある日。めったに鳴らない玄関のチャイムの高い声がした。私はパタパタと玄関に駆けていき、ドアの鍵を外す。
「宅配便です」
　差し出された一つの箱。そこには母の名が書かれていた。
　中には、一箱のポッキーがあった。けれどもその赤い箱は口が開き、二袋入っているはずの中身が、一袋しか入っていなかった。不思議に思いながら、そのポッキーを手に取る。するとそこから一枚のメモが出てきた。

『離れていても分け合えるよ』

　たった一言。けれどもそれが、母さんらしい。ポッキーを一本、口にする。
　その甘さに、塩辛さが混じった。


【Reason for winning】
A very beautiful work! The title is called “A heart that shares” but is like television commercial concept that presents a magnificent opening. With an expression like “I’ll only give you one bag of Pocky,” we give our hats off to you.

Title：『親子』 by 空西　恵

「パパ、あげる！」
テレビを見ていると、息子が目の前に差し出してきたのは、彼のおやつのポッキーだった。
「ありがとう」
ポッキーを受け取り、頭を撫でると、照れながらも笑顔を浮かべる。
頭を撫でるのをやめると、キッチンに立つ、妻のところへとかけていく。
「ママにも！」
自分と同じようにすると、妻もありがとうと、受け取っていた。
「いきなり、どうしたんだ？」
ポッキーを食べながら、こちらに帰ってきた息子に聞く。
彼はお菓子が大好きで、いつも独り占めしていた。分けてくれるのは、初めてだ。
「ぼく、お兄ちゃんになるから」
今、妻には新しい命が宿っている。彼は、そのことをとても喜んでいた。勿論、自分も。
これは、兄としての第一歩らしい。
ポッキーを食べ、またお礼を言う。
「おいしいよ。ありがとうな、お兄ちゃん」
「うん！どういたしまして」
満面の笑みを浮かべる顔には、チョコレートが付いていた。

This extraordinarily warm and touching story features a scene of children growing older, teaching them the joy of sharing Pocky. You can picture the smiles of everyone in this family!



Title：『青春だねぇ』 by 柳　日月

　青い空、白い雲、落ち込む友人。本日、僕の友人が振られました。
「いや、いい感じの振られ方だったね」
「私彼氏いるの、二次元にって振られ方のどこがだよ」
「彼氏持ちだったんだね彼女」
「絶対お前からかってるよな」
「うん、からかってる」
「慰めろよ、こんな時くらい」
　うっすら涙を浮かべる友人。慰めるねぇ。僕は鞄をあさって赤い箱を取り出した。
「はい、恋の味。元気出るよ」
「くれんのか？」
　頷くと、彼はさっそく箱を開けてポッキーを食べはじめた。
「どう、元気出た？」
「おう、ありがとうな」
「ハッ菓子１つで傷が癒えるとは、生易しい失恋だな」
「そういうこと言うか、普通」
　そう言って、２人して笑った。
「１本貰うよ」
　ポッキーに手を伸ばすと、後ろから別の手が伸びてきた。
「いいもんもってるな」
　担任だ。にやりと笑い、奴は赤い箱をさらっていった。
「あぁ！　ポッキー」
「青春だねぇ」


【Reason for winning】
A story about male bonding was very unique among our entries. That wasn’t the only reason for winning: the story had a very clever progression about the worries of friendship.
