pixiv will provide its users with a new "Shoutout" feature. This feature allows viewers of a live streaming session to express their support for the creator.

pixiv will also implement the "Rewards" service which entails the payment of rewards by pixiv Inc. to creators that conduct live streaming. The rewards will reflect the amount of support (e.g. shoutouts and comments) that a creator receives during their live streaming session.

■ About the Shoutout function

The "Shoutout" feature is a feature that allows viewers to manifest their support for a creator during live streaming. Viewers are given 1,500 emoji to choose from and are allowed to send up to 5 emoji at a single time.
Shoutouts are sent by viewers via the consumption of the viewers' pixiv Points*.

* pixiv Points refer to points that can be used to enjoy services provided by pixiv Inc. These points can either be purchased or earned through the use of services that require points (click here for more details). Please note that this is a different service from the "pixiv Point" service that ended on November 1, 2015 and thus the two services are not transferable.

pixiv Points can either be purchased or obtained in exchange for rewards.
Should you wish to purchase pixiv Points, please note that 1 point equals 1 Japanese yen and the smallest purchase that can be made on pixiv website is 1,000 points. You can pay for your purchases with your credit card (accepted cards are VISA and Mastercard). Should you wish to use your iOS App, the smallest purchase available is 120 points and in the case of the Android App, it is 100 points. Points purchased on pixiv website can be used both on the website and in-app. However, points purchased in-app can only be used in-app.

Now that the "Shoutout" feature is here, viewers will be able to have a fun experience conveying their feelings to creators that conduct live streaming. These feelings include sentiments such as "I want to tell the creator how much their work-in-progress and techniques inspire me!", "I want to liven up my favorite creator's live streaming sessions!", and "The creator is giving their all for this work. I want to give them some 'refreshments'!"

■ About Rewards

The term "Rewards" refers to the rewards given by pixiv Inc. to creators based on the amount of support that they receive (e.g. in the form of shoutouts and comments) during their live streaming sessions. Creators will have to first consent to "Rewards Reception Terms of Use" before activating the "Shoutout" feature and starting their live streaming session. By completing these steps, creators will be able to start accepting rewards.

The amount of support received during a creator's live streaming sessions will be assessed monthly and translated into funds that will be paid to the creator as their rewards. Creators can keep track of their rewards here.

Rewards can be exchanged in order to get pixiv Points. Rewards amounting to 500 yen and above can also be obtained in the form of money.
Should a creator wish to accept their rewards in monetary form, a fixed bank transfer fee will be charged to the creator.
Sending more than 30,000 yen: 300 yen transfer fee
Sending less than 30,000 yen: 200 yen transfer fee

■ Starting July 20th for 3 days, the online event "#pixiv夏の作業配信祭" (pixiv's Live Streaming Summer Festival) is coming soon!

In celebration of the "Shoutout" feature's implementation, pixiv will hold an online event called "#pixiv夏の作業配信祭" for three days, starting from July 20, 2018. The event will allow users to watch live drawing sessions by popular creators.

■ What underlies the birth of the "Shoutout" feature

During the development process of the "Shoutout" feature, we stressed the importance of delivering a feature that would allow viewers to convey their desire, which is to support a creator in their effort to complete a work.
The decision to be a creator is a task that can be easily completed solitarily. However, the more a creator immerses themselves in their activity as a creator, the more they will be detached from their bonds with other people.
By conducting live streaming sessions, a creator can change what tends to be a solitude moment spent working into an opportunity to communicate with their viewers. When a creator realizes that there are also other creators out there who conduct live streaming and there are viewers that support them, they will find encouragement to keep creating and the ambition to complete their works. The "Shoutout" feature was developed for the very purpose of enhancing the creators' ambition.
Please use the "Shoutout" feature as a method to let the creators know, in real time, about your reactions and your wish to support them in their effort to complete their work.
