This is an announcement regarding the content of the update to the Service Master Terms of Use, which we announced on November 15th, 2022 in the bulletin "Announcement and request regarding updates to Service Master Terms of Use for certain transactions".

This update applies to certain transactions on BOOTH, pixivFANBOX, the pixiv Requests feature, etc. It goes into effect on Thursday, December 15th.

Currently, pixiv has confirmed the presence of items posted for sale to our services that contain live-action elements in violation of public order and standards of decency, or are in violation of our company's Terms of Use, or the regulations of international credit card brands. Some items are also in violation of laws and ordinances.
pixiv is very strict about dealing with such items.

However, it is not pixiv's intention to excessively restrict or control free expression by creators. Protecting free expression and respecting the content of work is an important policy at pixiv.

Therefore, to ensure a safe space for all our creators, along with updating our Terms of Use, we have established and defined "Prohibited Items" and "Items Requiring Revision", to clarify the standards for judging which items are in violation of various regulations.

Article 14, "Prohibited Conduct" Item 26 "Using the Services to display, sell, purchase, register, or engage in other transactions involving the products set forth below" will be updated as follows.
* The official update to the Service Master Terms of Use will be published on December 15th, please consider this as a provisional translation.

Also, we have added the following to Article 15. Responses to Violation etc. and Cancellation of Registration.

■ We have set practical standards for "Prohibited Items" and "Items Requiring Revision"

We have added definitions for "Prohibited Items" and "Items Requiring Revision" on the Help page, based on the practical standards set out in the update to the Service Master Terms of Use, Article 14, "Prohibited Conduct" Item 26 "Using the Services to display, sell, purchase, register, or engage in other transactions involving the products set forth below".

What are "Prohibited Items"?

”Prohibited Items" are:
・Items that contain live-action elements in violation of public order and standards of decency
・Items that violate public order and standards of decency due to being so highly realistic as to create concerns about whether their creation may have involved the victimization of living people or animals

If we discover such items on our services, we may take the following actions.
・Deleting the items or setting them permanently to Private
・Account suspension
・Prohibition or limitation on the use of certain payment means

What are "Items Requiring Revision"?

・Items that are not live-action or highly realistic, but whose content or accompanying data (titles, tags, post captions, or other descriptions) have been deemed to require revision.

Items requiring revision will be judged holistically based on work content and accompanying data.

If we discover such items on our services, we may take the following actions.
・Temporarily setting the items to Private, and requesting revision. If the revision causes the item to no longer be in violation of regulations, the item may be made available for purchase.
・Users who post large volumes of items that clearly require revision, or repeatedly ignore requests for revision, and who pixiv deems to be deliberately malicious, may have their items deleted or set permanently to Private, may have their accounts suspended, or may be prohibited or limited from using certain payment means.

For further details on "Prohibited Items" and "Items Requiring Revision", check the Help pages on each service.
