We have received a lot of feedback regarding the handling of AI-generated work on Requests. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused as our response did not keep up with the rapid development of this technology.

We would like to share our thoughts and future plans for Requests and take into account your feedback and the current situation.


On pixiv Requests, creators and fans come together to engage in creative activities

pixiv Requests started with the intention of providing a space where creators and fans can connect through shared interests while also creating new opportunities for creativity.

It's much more than a place to buy and sell artwork. With Requests, we aim to make everyone's creative activities more fun by getting both creators and fans involved in the creative process. Fans feel an intense connection not only to the artwork but also to its creators.

Until now, we have been running the service with the idea that we should not limit the means of creation for our creators, and we have made changes to allow a clear distinction between traditional requests and requests that focus specifically on AI-generated work.

However, in the current state of Requests, we have seen a growing trend of using AI only to fulfill requests much faster than was traditionally possible. Moreover, more people are making the same requests to various creators who offer AI-generated work, only to cancel all of their requests once one of them has been accepted. We anticipate that this type of artwork trading without regard to the creators will only increase in the future.

This deviates from the original intentions of our service as a place for creators to thrive, and we have decided that we cannot continue with the current distinction.


You will no longer be able to accept requests for AI-generated work

We have decided that we will prohibit AI-generated work on Requests for the time being. These are the measures we plan to take:

Starting Monday, May 22nd, 2023 (JST), you will no longer be able to create a new set of terms soliciting requests for AI-generated work.
Starting Monday, May 29th, 2023 (JST), you will no longer be able to accept requests for AI-generated work even on existing terms.


Measures against other prohibited conduct

If we believe that a requested work is unreasonably harming the interests of a third party, we will take appropriate action regardless of whether the inquiry or report comes from the parties involved in the request.
We are also preparing some guidelines and rules to address these issues. More information will be announced at a later date.


We sincerely apologize to anyone who may be inconvenienced by these revisions. Going forward, Requests will continue to review and update its Terms of Use and Guidelines in accordance with the advancements and changes in the community surrounding AI technology.


We will continue to do everything possible to ensure that creators can continue using our services with peace of mind.
