On Thursday, April 5, pixiv started the "Onimusha Soul Illustration Contest".
Onimusha (鬼武者, literally translated as "Demon Warrior") is a series of action-adventure combined with puzzle element video games by developer Capcom which makes use of the historic figures that shaped Japan's history, retelling their stories with supernatural elements. Onimusha Soul is the browser-based spin off game that is expected to launch in Japan in June 28, 2012.
【Contest Period】
Thursday, April 5, 2012 ～ Monday, May 7, 2012, 23：59 Japan Standard Time.
【Participation Method】
This contest will be divided into 2 categories: "Theme-based" and "Free". We will be looking for illustrations portraying characters from the series and those inspired by the universe.
○ Theme-based Category：
For this category, we are looking for illustrations of 11 chosen characters from the Onimusha games. A listing of the selected characters is provided below. You are free to draw the characters as you desire, e.g. your own costumes and accessories.
We are looking forward to your participation!

○ Free Category：
For this category, you are free to draw an original illustration based on any of the warriors that actively participated during the Sengoku period wars. They must be drawn as one of the three races from the Onimusha universe: Human, Oni, or Genma.
※ Please refer to the guidelines below for the characteristics of each race.
※ You may draw original characters that are non-warriors (Monk、Ninja、Princess, etc) as well.
※ If you happen to draw any specific characters like Date Masamune or Oichi no Kata, please list the character name in your illustration title or description.

・Human: Warriors that loyally served lords or worked alone. Their power, charisma, and ingenuity helped them fight on even grounds with the Genma and Oni.
・Oni: A race of warriors (nicknamed "Devils" and "Demons") that have defended Japan since ancient times. They're identified by a special bracelet on their right wrist and despite popular belief, they do not actually have sharp claws, wild hair, horns, or red/blue skin.
・Genma: A race of warriors that served the Nobunaga and Toyotomi families. Loyal only to their own desires, they are surrounded by chaos and destruction.

【Submission Format】
・Submission limit: You may enter as may times as you wish, but each entry must be unique.
・Submission size: There is no size limit for web submission. Please submit your work in RGB format.
※ The selected contest winners will be required to submit their final entries as a 300 DPI Photoshop PSD file, at a resolution of 1600x1200 (width x height).
※ All winning contestants will be required to submit four illustrations (following the guidelines demonstrated below) in a set before submitting the final artwork to us by mid-June 2012. One of the four illustrations will be selected to serve as the final entry.
