pixiv Novel Children Charity Project "Book Santa 2022"

Write novels or essays with the theme "Christmas", and donate books to children!

In partnership with the Book Santa project, which aims to donate books to disadvantaged children throughout Japan, we're launching the pixiv Novel Children Charity Project ""Book Santa 2022"".

Write a novel or essay on the theme of Christmas and post it on pixiv novels with the entry tag "ブックサンタ2022", and pixiv Inc. will donate 500 JPY for each submission to the NPO Charity Santa! Donated funds will be used for the operation of Book Santa and to cover the cost of purchasing books to donate to children. The total amount of funds donated will be posted after the event ends. We're looking forward to heartfelt support from all of you.

Book Santa was founded in 2017 with the mission of donating books to disadvantaged children throughout Japan. Operated by the NPO Charity Santa, Book Santa partners with NPOs and booksellers throughout the country.
This charity program, ""Books from Santa Claus,"" allows you to purchase books at partner bookstores that you would like to donate to children throughout Japan, then donate them at the register.
The program also offers a dedicated online bookshop and crowdfunding donation options for people who have difficulty visiting physical bookstores.

We're pleased to announce that during this event, 890 participants submitted a total of 1162 eligible works (works meeting the guidelines of the project), earning a total of 581,000 JPY in donations (approx. 4500 USD).

All the donations were transferred to the NPO Charity Santa on January 20th, 2023.

The donations collected through this project will be used to fund the operation of Book Santa, and to pay for books donated to children.

For this project, we're looking for submissions of novels and essays on the theme of "Christmas".

If you post a novel with the entry tag "ブックサンタ2022", pixiv Inc. will donate 500 JPY for each submission to the NPO Charity Santa. Donated funds will be used for the operation of Book Santa and to cover the cost of purchasing books to donate to children.

We're looking for novels and essays on the theme of Christmas - childhood Christmases or memories of Santa Claus, stories of Christmases in adulthood, stories of strange or funny presents, and more. Post your work to pixiv with the entry tag.

・You can post any form of novel (short form, long form, series, etc.)
・You can submit as many entries as you like, but understand that one post is considered as one work. One series counts as one work.

・Only works with all-ages appropriate content will be accepted.
・Both original work and fan fiction are okay.
・*Only works which were posted after midnight on January 1st, 2022 will be eligible for donation.

Awards

For each work submitted, pivix will donate 500 JPY to the NPO Charity Santa.

*Entrants will not be awarded any prizes.

For each work posted, 500 yen will be donated to Book Santa.

Points of Note
* Your submission may be considered invalid in the following situations. Thank you for your understanding.
・Your work does not match the theme of the event.
・The privacy level of your entry is set to “My pixiv” or “Private”.
・You have set the age restrictions on your pixiv post to "R-18" or "R-18G"
・It is a repost or is submitted after the time frame of the event.
・Rules listed in “Project Terms” apply to your entry or entries.

This event is open to all registered pixiv users who have read and agreed to these terms and conditions.
* Entries from companies and multiple creators will not be accepted.
* Underage entrants should obtain a guardian's consent before entering.

○ How to Participate
Please post the work you would like to enter to pixiv with the event tag.

○ Event Terms
Your submission will serve as an acceptance of the terms outlined throughout this entire document.
Please be sure you have read them before submitting your work.

(1) If your entry, including your nickname, falls into the statements below, you will be disqualified.
・Works that violate the ownership rights of pixiv Inc., pixiv users, and other third parties; as well as intellectual property rights, including copyright, privilege, trust, and other privacy rights.
・Works that contain obscenity, torture, discrimination, explicit sexual themes, and other elements that are potentially offensive.
・Works that violate public order and morals.
・pixiv Inc. will decide if a work is unsuitable for display.
・Works that pixiv Inc. finds disagreeable for any reason will be disqualified.
(2) Entrants own all rights to their artwork/creations.
(3) Entrants may have their entries, comments, and pixiv nicknames posted, in whole or in part, to pixiv’s official Twitter, Facebook, and other social media accounts, displayed at exhibitions, or reprinted in magazines, books, or other media. pixiv may adapt or minorly edit the work.
(4) Entrants who remove their entries during the event will forfeit the event and no donations will be made for their entries.
(5) pixiv Inc. will not be responsible for any charges entrants may incur during the submission of their entry.
(6) pixiv Inc. will protect individuals’ information according to their privacy policy.

○ About donations
(1) pivix will donate 500 JPY for each novel tagged "ブックサンタ2022" that was posted between midnight on January 1st, 2022, and 11:59 pm on Sunday, December 25th, 2022. Donations will be made to the NPO Charity Santa.
(2) Each standalone work posted will count as one work. Each series work post will also count as one work.
(3) The total amount donated will be published after the event concludes.

○ Disclaimers
(1) Entrants assume responsibility for their own submissions.
(2) pixiv Inc. will not be responsible for any disputes that may happen between the entrants and other users, regardless of the reason.
(3) pixiv Inc. reserves the right to suspend or terminate the event in the event pixiv Inc. deems it necessary for any reason, including system maintenance.
(4) pixiv Inc. will not be liable for any damages incurred by the entrants, including but not limited to contest interruption, suspension, or cancellation.
(5) pixiv Inc. will not be responsible for any direct damages due to willful misconduct or gross negligence caused during the event period, regardless of immunity, as determined by the Application Guidelines and disclaimers.

○ Governing Law and Jurisdiction
The event and its terms shall be governed by Japanese law. Furthermore, the Tokyo District Court shall be the mutually-agreed court for any proceedings, with jurisdiction for the preliminary trial in the case of any disputes over contest terms or matters between the Company and the entrants.
