2. How to participate
Write a novel that aligns in both theme and format and post it with the appropriate tags to pixiv within the submission period.
・Theme
Please create a novel or an essay about the Mana series.
Excluding Echoes of Mana, you can use motifs from any game in the Mana series, but we are not looking for works that merely adapt the story of the game into novel form.
*Concerning Echoes of Mana, you cannot use any aspect of Echoes of Mana, including the setting and original characters, for this contest.
*Using several different works from the Mana series to create a crossover work is also outside of the scope of this contest.
*If your work is based on Legend of Mana, there is no issue with including content derived from Legend of Mana: The Teardrop Crystal.
*Your post must adhere to "The Mana Series Fan Works Guidelines".

・Results
The results of this contest will be unveiled on pixiv. The winning works and the creator's pixiv nickname could be posted on pixiv's official social media accounts such as Twitter and Facebook, and on the Legend of Mana: The Teardrop Crystal's homepage.

pixiv will conduct a fair lottery to select the winning works.
*The winners of the pixiv Prize will not be publicly announced.

・Notification of results
The winners of this contest will be contacted by pixiv about receiving their prize after the posting period has ended. We ask that you respond within the indicated response period.
Furthermore, creators who were not selected for any reward will not be notified of the results.

4. Contest Terms
・Posting outside of Japan
Those living outside of Japan can participate in this contest. You must agree to the submission guidelines to participate.
However, please understand that it is possible that parts of the prize to be given cannot be sent to winners outside of Japan.
・Elligible works
Works that do not meet the following requirements will not be eligible. These requirements will include but not be limited to the work's title, description, tags, and the creator's nickname. The ineligibility of submitted work will be determined by pixiv. Submitted works may be disqualified for any of these reasons. Additionally, if it is discovered that a winning work should have been disqualified for any of the following reasons, the prize. will no longer be given out and actions will be taken to retrieve prizes already given out.

・The work was determined by pixiv to not be related to the theme.
・The work didn't have its contest tags set.
・The work was set to private or my pixiv in the privacy settings.
・The work falls under the viewing restrictions of R-18 or R-18G.
・The work was posted or edited after the posting deadline.
・The work was created by a team or a company.
・The work was posted by a creator under the age of consent with the permission of their guardian.

② Works that fall under Article 14 of the Terms of Use Prohibited Conduct
(The following is a limited set of examples)
・The work may infringe upon the intellectual property rights, (as defined in the Terms of Use, Article 21 Subsection 1), or any other rights of pixiv, Square Enix, or a third party.
・ The work contains obscenity, torture, discrimination, and other elements that are potentially offensive.
・The work may infringe on the property or privacy rights of pixiv, Square Enix, or a third party.
・The work slanders, defames, unjustly discriminates against, or promotes the unjust discrimination of, pixiv, Square Enix, or a third party.
・The work violates public order and morals.
・The work is determined to fall under any other item in Article 14 of the Terms of Use.

*As laid out in Article 15 of the Terms of Use, ""Treatment of violating work"", pixiv will take the stated measures against works that would be covered by ② regardless of whether or not it is submitted for this contest.

・The work was created through the request function on pixiv or commissioned in any other way by a third party (Including Request Rewards)
・The work was posted in another contest, is intended to be sold, or is already being sold.
・The work violates the submission guidelines.
・If pixiv contacts you, and you do not respond in the time given.
・If you sell the rights to accept your prize or the prize itself to a third party.
・The work is determined by pixiv and Square Enix to not be suitable as a submitted work.
・Inelligble works for lottery and cancellation of the lottery
Works that do not meet the following requirements will not be eligible for the lottery. These requirements will include but not be limited to the work's title, description, tags, and the creator's nickname. The ineligibility of submitted work will be determined by pixiv. Submitted works may be disqualified for any of these reasons. Additionally, if it is discovered that a winning work should have been disqualified for any of the following reasons, the prize. will no longer be given out and actions will be taken to retrieve prizes already given out.

The copyright of submitted works (limited to those parts newly created by the creator and excluding anything that the original copyright holder had already created) belong to the creator. Please refrain from publishing any submitted works in dojinshi until after the results have been announced. If the work is released elsewhere prior to the results being announced, or if it is determined that the work was previously unreleased, there is the possibility that it will be disqualified from this contest.


Additionally, please obey the following conditions if you use your submitted work in a dojinshi after this contest.
(1) If you display that your work is based on the Mana series, do not do anything that might cause consumers to confuse your work for something published by Square Enix or as an official part of the Mana series.
(2) The creator will deal with any trouble related to their work. Square Enix will hold no responsibility for any trouble caused by the creator's work.
(3) If Square Enix is sued by a third party due to the creator's work, the creator will pay all expenses and have all responsibility in regard to that lawsuit.
(4) If the creator's work causes any sort of damage to Square Enix, the creator will compensate for any such damage.
(5) If Square Enix requests that you cease using the submitted work, cease using the work immediately.
・Information handling
pixiv will only use the information received when a creator posts their work for this contest in the selection process and to notify a creator that they have won the contest.
The personal information gathered to ship out the prize will be deleted after the prize has been sent out. For details about how pixiv handles personal information, please look at pixiv's privacy policy. (https://policies.pixiv.net/#privacy)

5. Disclaimer
(1) Contestants assume responsibility for their own submissions.
(2) pixiv Inc. and Square Enix Co., Ltd. will not be responsible for any disputes that may happen between the contestants and any third party, regardless of the reason.
(3) pixiv Inc. and Square Enix Co., Ltd. reserve the right to suspend or terminate the contest in case pixiv Inc. and Square Enix Co., Ltd. deem it necessary for any reason, including system maintenance.
(4) pixiv Inc. and Square Enix Co., Ltd. will not be liable for any damages incurred by the contestants, including but not limited to contest interruption, suspension, or cancellation.
(5) Determined by the true terms and conditions including the disclaimers, pixiv Inc. and Square Enix Co., Ltd. will be not responsible for any direct damages caused by willful misconduct or gross negligence caused during the contest period, regardless of immunity.
(6) pixiv Inc. and Square Enix Co., Ltd. will not be held liable for any financial costs brought about due to a contestant's entry in this contest.

7. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
The contest and its terms shall be governed by Japanese law. Furthermore, the Tokyo District Court shall be the mutually-agreed court for any proceedings, with jurisdiction for the preliminary trial in the case of any disputes over contest terms or matters between pixiv Inc. and the contestants.
